About UCT
The Beginning: Proud of Our Past 1991
1991
UCT founded as unit of Mitsubishi Metals
UCT was launched from Mitsubishi Corporation Metal's Division by Hisayoshi Kobayashi to bring Japanese-developed, ultra clean manufacturing techniques to the semiconductor equipment industry in Silicon Valley.
2002
A management buyout launches UCT as an independent company
The UCT management team executed a buyout of the company from Mitsubishi, led by Clarence Granger, who became the founding CEO.
2004
UCT goes public with vision to be a global semiconductor industry solutions provider
Our initial public offering was made on March 24, 2004. Ultra Clean Holdings trades under the NASDAQ symbol UCTT.
2005
UCT begins expansion strategy execution, adding China manufacturing
We opened our first overseas manufacturing site in Shanghai, China, expanding our gas panel production and assembly capability. This expansion positioned us as a lead semiconductor equipment manufacturing supplier in the U.S. equipment producer's Asia transition, supporting the increase in capital equipment spending in the region.
2006
Sieger Engineering acquisition inaugurates UCT's vertical integration plans
Equipment makers were increasingly outsourcing larger segments of their manufacturing. The addition of Sieger Engineering brought critical subsystem expertise and machining capabilities for the semiconductor, flat panel, medical and capital equipment industries. These complemented our expertise in gas delivery system design, manufacturing, and assembly.
2007
UCT grows manufacturing in China
We added additional capabilities to our Shanghai, China operations to enhance our Asia manufacturing and machining abilities. We aligned our processes and capabilities to those in the U.S. to enable a smooth production transition across our manufacturing sites.
2009
Singapore manufacturing opening continues UCT's global expansion
Recognizing the operational benefits of a Singapore manufacturing presence, we purchased facilities to support the expanding footprint of the semiconductor equipment industry in the region. These facilities provide assembly and testing capabilities spanning gas delivery modules to full system integration. Also, Singapore is home to our Asia headquarters.
2012
UCT acquires AIT to expand complex system integration capabilities
As the outsourcing trend accelerated in our industries, we completed the acquisition of AIT, a leading vertically integrated provider of complex assemblies to the semiconductor equipment market. In addition to broadening our capabilities in major subsystem assembly, we strengthened our vertical integration capabilities to span machining, framing and sheet metal.
2014
UCT launches 3D printing for industrial prototyping
As the complexity of semiconductor equipment and other industrial design has increased, new prototyping and specialty manufacturing capabilities are critical to rapid technological development. Recognizing the opportunity 3D printing would provide the industry, we launched a center to marry our semiconductor expertise with leading-edge 3D printing capabilities.
2015
UCT’s Marchi Thermal acquisition joins two strong gas delivery solutions companies
For over 30 years, Marchi was a leader in complex thermal solutions for the semiconductor and adjacent industries, solving the most demanding challenges in pursuit of Moore’s Law. Marchi Thermal Systems brought another dimension to the strong, vertical value proposition we provide our customers.
2015
Miconex acquisition provides UCT entry into the wet chemical equipment segment
The acquisition of Miconex expanded our capabilities into the wet chemical equipment segment, adding processing steps like cleaning, chemical mechanical polishing and electrochemical deposition to the systems we now support. This acquisition provided us with capabilities in precision machining, welding, assembly and the integration of high-performance plastics.
2018
UCT enters semi-equipment cleaning market through QGT acquisition
We acquired Quantum Global Technologies (QGT) in entering the semiconductor equipment cleaning segment. Founded in 2000, QGT was a global leader in sub10nm validated, ultra-high purity outsourced process tool chamber parts cleaning and coating services. This acquisition enabled us to widen our array of services, expand our customer base and provide more value to customers.
2019
UCT acquires Dynamic Manufacturing Solutions
We purchased Dynamic Manufacturing Solutions LLC (DMS), a semiconductor weldment and solutions provider. Based in Austin, Texas, adjacent to our existing weldment facility, DMS offered a complete range of weldment solutions, from build to print outsourcing to turnkey design and product realization.
2021
UCT Acquires Ham-Let (Israel-Canada) LTD
Based in Israel, Ham-Let was a global leader in the development, manufacturing and distribution of ultra-high purity and industrial flow control systems – valves, fittings, hoses and connectors largely used for the manufacturing of today's most complex semiconductor devices.
2023
UCT acquires HIS
HIS Innovations Group, a privately held company based in Hillsboro, Oregon. HIS is a leading supplier to the semiconductor sub-fab segment including the design, manufacturing, and integration of components, process solutions, and fully integrated sub-systems.
